# Box VM

The same software that powers Camio Box runs on any computer and works with any camera[^1] on any network.

## Virtualization to run at any scale

Whether you have dozens of servers in a datacenter or a single Mac mini in the closet, you can run the same software that powers the [Camio Box](/content/box/index.html) physical devices on any computer you choose. Box VM is a [VirtualBox](https://www.virtualbox.org/) Appliance. Allocate as much memory and processing power as you’d like. As a comparative benchmark, running a Box VM with 4 CPUs, 3GB RAM on an Intel i5 handles 6 1080p streams at the preferred 2Mbps bitrate.
