Cloud-to-cloud integration between Openpath and Camio delivers answers instantly.
Camio and Openpath provide a simple cloud-to-cloud integration that makes it easy to answer common security questions like:
- Who followed behind employee 45741 in the last 7 days?
- Why was the door ajar for 30 seconds?
- Who forced-open the back entrance door?
- Why were there 4 badge-ins at 2:26am at the training facility?
Simple search queries show relevant access control events — across all entrances and all locations.
Historically, many video integrations with access control systems have been insecure and complicated. They create cybersecurity risks in opening inbound network ports for remote viewing, and the video playback itself is a one-by-one drill-down into a long list of access control events.

The Openpath+Camio integration requires no network changes, no on-site visits, and no software installations. The setup can be done from any web browser:
- Link Camio to Openpath via the sign-in or token of a read-only User Role.
- Assign each camera to an entry at https://camio.com/settings/integrations/openpath
- Create Outbound Webhooks from Openpath to Camio.
Assign the Openpath entryId to any camera with a view of that entry.
Camio indexes the video with the Openpath userId, event code, first name, last name, and email. For example, to see every time any entry was unlocked since 6am today, use the query:
https://camio.com/app/#search;q=entry.unlocked+6am
To see specific people who triggered events, query by first name, last name and event code like:
https://camio.com/app/#search;q=John_Doe_entry.unlocked
The recommended access control events to include in Openpath Webhooks are:
- entry.unlocked
- entry.ajar.started
- entry.ajar.ended
- entry.forcedopen
“This speed and simplicity is what clients want. Natural language video search on access control events makes investigations quick.”
— Kathleen McCartin-Ur, VP of Fortress Controls
When combined with camera search, the access control integration makes it simple to review the video across any grouping of cameras. Camera labels can overlap, so searching by categories like elevator, garage, or entrance is the same as searching by geography like Boston, 94401, or west campus. So the queries “ classroom entry.forcedopen” and “ west campus entry.ajar.started” show quick video summaries — without having to navigate through fixed hierarchical relationships among cameras and access control units.
This integration is the first step in making visual verification of access control events simple and secure.
